Question about large zone files

		There's no reason why you can't do it, after all the root servers deal with
  this situation all the time.  The reason that it's not smart has to do
with the
  management of the zone files.  Large files become unwieldy very quickly
and it's
  much easier to make a mistake, especially things like accidentally adding
a record
  which points to the same address as another machine without realizing it.

		The way to split the zone file into multiple parts is to create
subdomains of the
  domain and create zone files for each of the subdomains.

		If there's a performance issue, get a larger machine or add a second machine
  to handle some of the subdomain zones.
