bind 9.7.2-P3 does not resolve www.microsoft.com

This however works:

dig any www.microsoft.com @ns[12345].msft.net

But it returns a cname entry to toggle.www.ms.adadns.net

A traceroute shows our traffic hitting Level3's backbone in Chicago.
