on aix 5.2, error doing make with 9.5.0

Are you compiling this with a GNU toolchain?  If you are using an IBM
compiler,  try using GCC.

Can't seem to find this error on Google.

I'm tried doing the configure with --enable-threads and also with 
--disable-threads
