Pilu,
It is very Stable. I did a upgrade from BIND 4 to Bind 9.3.0 when it first
came out. I currently have 3 auth dns servers running 3200 domains (i master
and 2 slaves) on windows 2003 servers.
I setup a bind 9 as a slave to the bind 4 master and pulled all the zones
then made the new bind 9 server a master (converted the named.conf files
using a search and replace utility i found). There is a .pl script i used to
convert the named.boot file to the named.conf. My recommendation is to also
get the DNS and BIND book 4th edition to get familiar with the bind 9
options, etc...

here is the .pl script i used - http://bind8nt.meiway.com/upgrade4.cfm

hope this helps,
