In article <bi64st$tja$1 at sf1.isc.org> you write:
>A coworker told me the following, which he said was ICANN policy:
>It is a violation of ICANN regulations for the authoritative nameserver
>for an EDU TLD to also host .com or .org TLDs. Is there any accuracy to
>this statement? I've never heard of it and see EDU TLD nameservers host
>.org and .com TLDs all the time. Are they in violation of ICANN
>regulations?

The authoritative nameservers for the EDU TLD are:

edu. 42072	IN	NS	a3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	b3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	c3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	d3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	e3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	f3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	g3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	l3.nstld.com.
edu. 42072	IN	NS	m3.nstld.com.

The authoritative nameservers for the COM TLD are:

com. 79385	IN	NS	a.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	b.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	c.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	d.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	e.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	f.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	g.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	h.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	i.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	j.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	k.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	l.gtld-servers.net.
com. 79385	IN	NS	m.gtld-servers.net.

It doesn't look like the same servers are hosting both TLD. I think you're
confusing top-level domains with 2nd-level domains.
