Wildcards for MX and CNAME in same zone - allowed?

Your ISP is right, not becouse of multiple wildcards but becouse of
a CNAME for the same label as something else.

I would advize you to drop wildcards, especially for MX. It hurts
more then it fixes things.(imho)
