Does microsoft DNS server support * aliases?

NT4 DNS is broken in most ways possible. 

As this is a bind-specific group the only possible recommendation
to You is :

install an OpenBSD ( or linuz or whatever looking like un*x) and
run bind-8 or bind-9 on that machine.


The problems you describe will automagically disappear.

( PS, avoid nslookup, use dig or other qualified tools )
