BIND Problems...

How is the problem resolved? If you have to restart the servers,
or does it just go away? Is anything odd in the log files?

If there are particular domain names, what are they? There is
always a guru around here with 5 minutes to spot a problem in
delegation be it ever so subtle.

If it just goes away it is probably packet loss, or some sort of
procedural problems (does it occur after changes to the zones?
How do you make such changes?).

400 zones isn't that many for BIND, but it can start to get a
little slow on reloading if your still doing synchronous writes
to the log file for every zone on the same disk as you read the
zone files from.
