You might need to specify the full path where the make and Makefile =
resides
in. Otherwise, you must set the environment variables before executing =
the
command.

for example:
/usr/ccs/bin/make /dir1/dir2/bind-src/install/Makefile

Please note the named directory where the extracting "bind-src.tar" =
extracts
the files to.

Sincerely,

Subject: How to upgrade Bind 8.2.3 to 8.3.1 on Linux

Hi!

I need to upgrade Bind version 8.2.3 to 8.3.1 (no, 9.x is not an
option) and need some basic instructions.

We are running a minimal install of Suse Linux 7.2, only the 'bind8'
and 'mc' packages were added.
After extracting the "bind-src.tar(.gz)" file (downloaded from
www.isc.org) I tried to run the "make install" command (due to the
instructions in the "INSTALL" textfile) but this does not work
("command not found").

Do i need additional packages (which) or where=B4s my mistake?
Are there any detailed instructions out there on how to upgrade Bind
(and I mean detailed, not just "install the binaries and edit the
config files")?

Thank you in advance and
kind regards

Jochen
