dig is still using cached data for the IP addresses of name
servers used in this trace AFAICT. If you switch on querylogging
you see the nameserver lookups issued as queries. So if you have
a corrupt cache this trace will still give you bad answers.

However I don't suppose you have a trace from the point at which
@home wasn't working?
