I can't change my name server for domain registered through Network Solutions.

That won't make any difference.  The problem is that "ns1.10dash.com"
isn't registered as a host (a name server).  John needs to go to
http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/makechanges/itts/host to register
"ns1.10dash.com" as a host.

He would have to do something similar no matter which ICANN-approved
registrar he chooses.
