TTL ?

When deciding about TTL values, a balance should be found between:

1. reduce the load on your and other nameservers as much as possible
(=higher TTL)
2. reduce the time it takes for changes to propagate as much as possible
(=lower TTL)

So everything depends on how often you will make changes to your zone and if
you will know about it beforehand. A good practice would be to set the
default TTL value for your zone to 24 hours, and if you are planning to
change servers, lower the TTL value for that server temporarly to let's say
1 hour one day before making the change. On critical systems, TTL values
might even be lower (sites like Yahoo or Microsoft have TTL values of 5
min).
