My BIND replacement package, djbdns, includes a dnstrace tool that
reveals the problem:

   % dnstrace any www.lanifex.com a.root-servers.net | less
   ...
   255 www.lanifex.com 198.41.0.4
                                   www.lanifex.com 172800 A 195.58.165.122
   ...
   255 www.lanifex.com 213.225.63.34
                                   www.lanifex.com 36000 A 213.225.63.34
   ...
   255 www.lanifex.com 195.58.165.125
                                   www.lanifex.com 36000 A 213.225.63.34

Evidently www.lanifex.com, with the old address, is somebody's NS in the
.com servers.
