I'm sure it could - what makes you think they are running BIND?

Could be a Raptor firewall, althought I don't know if this is
normal behaviour for the Raptor.

Does look like the Raptor proxy might do a recursive query, and
pass you the answer.

Anyone got one to hand to play with?
