5 instances of named

I have upgraded my BIND to version 9.1.3. After converting my old config to the
new format I have restarted named. Everything so far is working fine. There are
5 instances of named in the process list. Why is this? Is there anyway to
control the number of instances of named? Personally, I would perfer one
instance. Can I start named to run one instance only?
