Hi Everyone,
I have an IP address { E.F.G.H} for my domain name ABC.COM and my web server
is being hosted by my ISP.
I have an A record like this for my web server under ABC.COM
www IN A A.B.C.D (ISP's Public IP)
The above IP doesn't fall in my Public IP address space where as the one
attached to my domain falls into my Public IP address space and the IP
address assigned to my domain ABC.COM {E.F.G.H} is being used by another web
server which is being hosted in our company.
www.marketer IN A E.F.G.H
when someone tries to get to www.abc.com ., everything is fine the browser
takes them to our web server being hosted by our ISP.If by mistake they
leave out www and just type abc.com it takes them to www.marketer.abc.com
which is not desirable for us.
I want to have an IP assigned for our domain name just for reverse DNS
lookup and at the same time if someone leaves out www part i wantthat to be
directed to www.abc.com instead of www.marketer.abc.com
Can i create an alias record like this after changing the IP address for the
A record www.marketer from E.F.G.H to something else ???
abc.com CNAME www.abc.com
How do i go about in making the changes to accomplish my need???
Appreciate your help regarding this....
Thanks,
Muthu
