extras

I am reasonably new to dns and bind so appologies for my ignorance but
can someone explain what the following are needed for. 
Are they essential to enable to routing of mail and for customers accessing
their web-sites. I have always added a new zone file for each domain and
also updated the following two but am unsure of their use.

win32app - bind - extras.rev file

winnt    -    named.boot  

Any comments appreciated.
