DNS is unrelated to telnet, has no "commands" _per_se_ (the closest thing
would probably be the opcode field of the DNS message header), and uses
UDP and TCP port 53 on the server side to listen for queries and originate
responses.

Read RFC's 1034 and 1035, for starters. For a more comprehensive,
administrator-oriented guide to DNS, get the _DNS_and_BIND_ book from
O'Reilly.
