Standby dns requirements

Our site normally uses a Sun Sparc Ultra as our primary
DNS running Bind-8.2pl5. We support about 20,000 IP numbers on
campus. I want to put a standby Debian Linux box in the form of
a Dell Dimention 266 with 64 MB of RAM in service while the Sun
gets a new OS. The Dell will be running bind-8.2pl7 and dhcpd
during this time and I am hoping it will hold up the load.

Is this a realistic expectation? We will probably do
this in an off-peak time, but we are a 24/7 operation so there is
really no good time to be down.

The Sun Sparc we are subbing out has 512 megs of RAM and
a 143 MHZ clock.

Generally, I am curious as to how large an organization
can get and be able to use a high-quality P.C. running Linux.
