Caching only & parent DNS question.

Hi,

Our primary DNS server is moving and we want to replace it with a
caching only DNS server.

I would like to test this first, before I let the DNS go, and I was
wondering if this would work:

I create the cache only DNS server and put it's forwarder pointing
to the new primary DNS server.  Of course I wouldn't be telling the
parent, as I don't want to change them yet.

Would it work?  I just need a few days to convince myself, or would
I create a DNS loop of some kind?
