2nd level domain forwarding

Hello !

how can i set up the DNS of a.b.c.de to have the domain
    hpd.cx
and using / redirect it to my computer
    xyzzy.a.b.c.de
however, i want to use "http://hpd.cx", but i have to use
"http://www.hpd.cx" to see my pages.

so, can i set up a alias like
    hpd.cx.  CNAME  xyzzy.a.b.c.de ??

do i need to set up a virtual web host hpd.cx in the domain a.b.c.de on
the xyzzy host within apache ?
