Subdomain forwarding

how can i set up the DNS of a.b.c.de to have the domain
    hpd.cx
and redirected to my computer
    xyzzy.a.b.c.de
however, i want to use "http://hpd.cx", but i have to use "http://www.hpd.cx" to
receive my pages.

so, can i set up a alias like
    hpd.cx.  CNAME  xyzzy.a.b.c.de ??

i haven't set up a virtual host hpd.cx in the domain a.b.c.de on the xyzzy host.
now we have setup an alias to let it work with only www.hpd.cx.
