thought all was well.. but..

Thought I sussed all the bugs out of my DNS but today I see a log error of:

unix control "/var/run/ndc" connect failed: permission denied
ctl_server: bind: already in use
couldn't create pid file "/var/run/named.pid"

completely new to me.  Seems I just cant balance this out.  Would 
someone jump start my brain here. Thank you.

PS: named.retart via root seems to correct this temporarily.
