Running as non-privileged user under SCO 5.04

Hi,

We're running Bind 8.2.2P5 on a SCO 5.04 box and are attempting to run it
as a non-privileged user. We can start it from the command line as user
root and it will run as user named with this command: "/usr/local/etc/named
-u named"

However when we put the same line in the /etc/rc2.d/s85tcp file (where
named is usually started in 5.04), it tries to start then core dumps
leaving the following in the syslog:

Jun 20 10:03:54 xxx named[272]: listening on [x.x.x.x].53 (net1)
Jun 20 10:03:54 xxx named[272]: listening on [127.0.0.1].53 (lo0)

Jun 20 10:03:54 xxx named[272]: Forwarding source address is [0.0.0.0].1045

Jun 20 10:03:54 xxx named[274]: setgid(100): Operation not permitted

Jun 20 10:03:54 xxx named[274]: setgid(100): Operation not permitted

/usr/local/etc/named perms are:

-rwxr-x---   1 root     named     885512 Jun 19 09:31 named

excerpt of /etc/rc2.d/S85tcp:

<snip>

      if [ -x /usr/local/etc/named -a -f /etc/named.conf ]; then
              /usr/local/etc/named -u named; echo "named \c"
      fi
<snip>

Anybody with SCO experience out there? We sure hate to start this thing
manually every boot.

Thanks
