Stupid question about DNS

named.conf is for a dns server. Your RedHat must not
have the BIND server installed.

dns-resolver sounds alot like (dns helper) which is
the resolver process for Netscape. Dns works correctly,
because, your machine has an /etc/resolv.conf (and with
Linux hosts.dat) file setup correctly. That file configures
the client side (your machine) to be able to talk to the
right machine.
