Standard links puts the object files and binaries in /var/obj.
If that doesn't exist, it will fail. You don't need to do
that. You can just compile it in place if you wish.

What, that's different error. Oh, you probably did a:
gunzip -c bind-src.tar.gz |tar -xvf -
make stdlinks


You're in the wrong directory. cd to src first.
