core dumps and swap problems

this is running 8.2.2-R5 under digial unix 4.0d, all patched up.  Ever
since I moved to 8.2.2*, named will core dump every so often and unless it
gets HUP'ed about once a week, it eats tons of swap.  What can I do to
track down the problem?  I didn't see this in previous versions of bind
and the alpha has been under 4.0d since before I did 8.2.2*
