Looking for sources for 'named'...

I know this is a 'bind' newsgroup, but I'm hoping someone could help 
point me to some sources for 'named'.  Either that or convince me I
should be using 'bind' instead? (what are the differences??)   This
is to understand named better (and tinker) for my Linux system.
