I mailed the admin and billing contact given in the granitecanyon.com
whois record and he, with admirable patience, pointed out that the
whole saga is recounted in the "Status Update" section of
<http://soa.granitecanyon.com/>.  I apologised for not having noticed
it.  Given the lack of feedback in this forum either my queries about
Granite Canyon have been so dumb that they weren't worth answering or
no one else has noticed that item either... :-(
