Hello All, sorry for the bizarre handle here... am using one of our
workstations, for one of our hosts. Didn't realize that it had this
configured for it. 8/

Anyway, it's Bind 8.2.1.

Also.. here's what I did:

1 - Installed port of 8.2.1, using FreeBSD's Sysinstall utility. Ran "make
install" and it did fine.
2 - Copied over old (4.x) named.boot into the /etc/namedb dir, and ran
"named-bootconf".. went well.
3 - Copied over all .dns (zone) files from old 4.x system... into /etc/named
dir.
4 - Moved named.conf to /etc.
5 - typed "ndc start".
6 - typed "ndc status" ... came back with "not running".
7 - changed one of the entries in the named.conf file to make it a slave...
checked with examples...
8 - typed "ndc start".
9 - typed "ndc status" ... came back with "not running"... and new file
wasn't in /etc/namedb
10 - Gave up, and sent these messages to you nice folks.

Hope this helps.

Lee (not anywhere CLOSE to a "miss kitty".. whatever that is.. heh)
