Host set-up with NetworkSolutions

I have a dedicated server hosted at an ISP. Do I need to fill-out a
"Host" registration form with InterNic to point registered domains
directly at my machine?

If that's the case, what do I register, host.ispnetwork.tld? Or,
ns1.mydomain.tld? Where ns1 is simply a host I've created on my machine?

Currently I'm using GraniteCanyon as my nameservers, but I'd like more
flexiblity.
