DNS lookup on one domain with DNS for a domain without an internal DNS server

All,

Have been reading the list for some time and found it useful, now have a
question. The company I work for has two offices, one in the U.S. and on in
the UK. I work in the UK and we host our own DNS internally and externally
with our ISP as secondary DNS. Our U.S office however does not have
internal DNS, so whenever we try to access machines over there by host name
they are not accessible and therefore we have to know the hosts IP address
(They uses WINS internally). We have several machines that we access over
there and currently have to do it via IP address. I want to avoid using
LMHOST files on all the workstations (administration overhead) and I cannot
seem to convince the U.S. to install an internal DNS server.

My question is this, can I put entries in our DNS files in the u.k so that
when we attempt to access the U.S office machines by host name, it will
return the IP address, meaning we can use host names as opposed to IP
addresses. For information they are on a different subnet and domain.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Martin
