In which case, only detailed profiling with the vendor compiler
is likely to be able to tell you what is going on and why.

Please keep in mind that I completely disagree with his choice of
djbdns for use on his nameservers, but he does at least have a pretty
good start at a testing methodology for looking at caching
performance.
