And I find myself wondering about the OPs environment, and how he arrives at 10k leases/s. That's 10k machines all asking for a lease (booting) within 1s, or 100k machines after a lease within 10s, or a million machines within 100s (1m 40s). I'm struggling to think how you'd manage that - even a widespread (region wide) power outage followed by simultaneous restoration of power across the whole area would struggle to do that.
