Thanks, that's an interesting idea. I've also been told I should be able to create a dynamic root path statement along these lines (haven't tried it yet):
option root-path =
concat ( \"iscsi:initiator1.example.com::::target\",
binary-to-ascii ( 10, 8, \"\", suffix ( leased-address, 1 ) ) );
