Keep hosts Mac address

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to keep my hosts mac address in a database so I
can power on them using their WOL capability. The DHCP server seems a
good starting point to do this because it give or query the host-names
and manages the leases with the mac addresses.

Unfortunately, the dhcpd.leases file do not keep the mac address
information in a persistent manner. So I can't use it as a database.

The same problem appears with the ARP tables.

It seems a good idea to use the TXT dns entries to store the host's
mac address but they are already used by the DHCP <-> DNS
communication to identify the DDNS queries.

Can anyone give me an idea ?
