doubt in relay concept

In this example no IP address will be assigned.

The relay needs to be on the client's subnet so that it can see a
broadcast DHCPDISCOVER packet from the client. The relay then inserts it's
interface address into the packet so the DHCP server knows which subnet
the request came from.
