Hello,

I repost this because I cant believe that the ISC make a final version of
4.2 having this bug in mindand ignoring it.

No comments?

Subject: BUG - Error in Failover-Communication in all ISC DHCPD 4 Versions ?
- Question to ISC

Hello,

I use 2 ISC-DHCP Server and tested the following versions:

* dhcp-3.1-ESV
* dhcp-4.2.0-P2
* dhcp-4.2.1rc1

and also dhcp 3.1 included in the SuSE Linux Enterprise V 11

I recently told you all that I have problems when I do a shutdown via OMAPI
on one server the other server change to communication-interrupted instead
of partner down. I thought its my error so I hoped to get some hints. Soon I
have to find out that this error only occurs in the dhcp version 4. I have
changed to that because of LDAP support.

The version 3 behaves like expected:

Mar 1 11:08:08 xxxxxxxx dhcpd: failover peer xxxxxxxx: I move from normal
to shutdown
Mar 1 11:08:08 xxxxxxxx dhcpd: failover peer xxxxxxxx: peer moves from
normal to partner-down

The Version 4 do this:

Mar 1 11:05:08 xxxxxxxx dhcpd: failover peer xxxxxxxx: I move from normal
to startup
Mar 1 11:05:08 xxxxxxxx dhcpd: failover peer xxxxxxxx: peer moves from
normal to communications-interrupted

At the moment I test with the patched version of isc dhcp 3 (with LDAP) and
works also perfect.

Is there a bug in all the DHCP Version 4 files?

thanx a lot for your support.
cheers,
Juergen
