Trust me, on our system it's not load at all.  We have a quad core  
CPU, 4GB of ram, and a memory disk serving the leases file.

We have about 200 clients....

Gstat is a whopping 0.0-3.0% on md0


I think it's something internally with dhcpd and it just stops  
responding to failover requests on the TCP channel between the two  
processes.
