Good question, but technically off topic ;)
RFC2052 specifies "must be one or more A records for this name".
I'd read that as no aliases allowed, although it would be a lot
clearer if they would use a notation that clearly distinguishes
"domain name", "host name" and "alias", rather than lots of
vague English.
