Strange delelagtion/resolving problems

Mark,
As far as I know, the DENIC does not make any recommendations in that
direction. I suppose the reason for having only German servers is that
everything is hosted at a German ISP (or are your referring to other
examples?).
But what do you mean by "distance"? Is is like "number of delegation
steps" or "network distance/roudtrip time"?
And could you possibly point me in the direction of some documentation
of this? I was not able to find anything in the "DNS and Bind" book, and
this problem is digging me for the whole day...
