forwarders problem?????????

Hai,
I maintain dns servers. I have internal and external servers.
The internal servers are configured in such a way that if any internet
domain is queried it is forwarded to forward only server. I confirm this as
in named.conf (BIND 8.1.2) there is a forwarder line.
In the forward only server, the resolv.conf file is pointed to internal name
servers. I don't understand why is this? as if it is pointed to internal
name server it will again query internal name server for internet hosts also
(do i misunderstand the forwarders concept?). Also the internal name servers
and forwarder has a db.cache file which points to real root servers.
Now the problem is for a particular domain the internal or forward only
server is not resolving ip address. For the rest (Internet and Intranet)
hosts these are working fine.
What may be the problem and how can i resolve this.
And also how can I know whether the internal name server is forwarding the
queries of internet hosts to forward only server.
If I remove forward only lines in the internal name server and keeping the
db.cache line, it is resolving everything. (I think this is because for the
internet hosts it is quering root servers). If this is the case, when the
internet host is forwarded to forward only server,
the forward only server should show the ipaddress as it has the real root
server line db.cache in its configuration file.
Thanks
Sri
