That's because it's not a valid representation of an IPv6 address (it 
has only 6 hextets where you would expect to see 8, or a double-colon to 
mark compressed zeros):

2001:db8:a4:ea5c:0:0:53:a1 = 2001:db8:a4:ea5c::53:a1
