BIND/Control Panel/FreeBSD

My default business os of choice is also FreeBSD. However many moons ago we came to the determination that bind on FreeBSD had issues. Memory issues. Lockups. Strange goings on. Mostly when the process was close to consuming all available ram. We switch to Linux. Our 3 name servers are the only Linux boxes in our entire enterprise. Now I am not going to suggest steering clear as my last 'production' 'bsd' 'nameserver' was well over 10 years ago. I'm confident things have improved. Just keep my experience in mind.

BSD 10.x changed drastically in many ways under the hood and control panel authors found the cost to benefit ratio too high to keep supporting FreeBSD. Assuming there is a really good reason why the choice for cPanel was made (support staff's knowledge/skill/ability of the software) is the choice of an OS that much of a project blocker?
