You stated "I tried adding check-names ignore; to the zone definition

it.

It's a bit hard to help after that.

B.T.W. named doesn't care about the owner names of PTR records.  It
does care about the rdata content if the owner name ends in
"in-addr.arpa" or "ip6.arpa".
