DNS MX timeouts

Well, my personal dedicated server is a Gentoo using BIND as a
resolver and I can say it works. So, no real ideas, but a few things
to try:

* tcpdump when the request with dig fails, to see what goes out and
what comes in,

* check BIND log file. If there are, for instance, EDNS0 issues, it
will be logged there,

* check external boxes such as firewalls.
