This depends on the behavior of your local resolver, and probably
on how Firefox is configured as well. http://tm/ works fine for me.

$ /usr/sbin/ping tm
tm is alive

(and yes, that really is 193.223.78.213 it is pinging, not a local
tm.[some-domain]).
