Question about Bind 8 forwarder

Hello,
I would like to know the official answer on the forwarding timeout of BIND 8

We are using bind 8.2.4. And we have the following setting:

type forward;
forwarders { 192.168.1.1; 192.168.1.2; };

We want to know if 192.168.1.1 is down, how long will it take to give up
192.168.1.1 and try 192.168.1.2?


Please kindly give me some advice.
