Question about running Pri Masters on VMWare

Mark,

I have setup 2 bind servers running under ESX without any hick-ups
instead of dealing with just 1physical nic though I've specified each
virtual box to use it's own Physical NIC(manageable through ESX no
sweat) I currently have around 20,000 domains on both DNS boxes
running 2GB ram and 80GB of space without any problems.

what i really like about this virtualization thing is the reboot time
frame. I ran openbsd boxes as full master dns boxes and when i issue
reboots. it would only take around 15seconds tops and it's up :-)
pretty neat, I've run it against another DNS box i've setup on a DL380
box with the same specs. and it boots up around a minute(tops) can't
beat that..

I know that leaning into one part (virtualization) would not be a wise
thing to do. but you can always play belt-suspenders ;-) put bind
boxes virtually and some on physical boxes. you'll have best of both
ends.

my 0.2cents,

-b
