Any Thoughts on using a Windows DNS server for Public facing versus a DNS Appliance?

We are having a debate as to whether we should deploy Windows DNS
servers
for public facing request versus using a DNS Appliance solution. We
currently host about domain and that looks to increase by about
another 100
within the next 6-9 months.

Can anyone give give thier take on this and if you have deploy either
solutions and if so what issues you encountered.
